What is the wait time to get a hearing with a Social Security Judge(ALJ)?

Unfortunately, applicants who may need immediate financial relief from the SSA because of a disabling medical condition will likely have to wait many months to over a year in order to even have a hearing regarding their claim for benefits.

Lawyers, typically can not make your case get heard by the judge faster. That said, lawyers may be able to help applicants with new medical evidence or very strong cases to get an approval from Social Security before the hearing actually gets scheduled—by getting the judge to look at all the medical evidence and make a favorable decision before the hearing.

The only applicant that can usually get an expidited hearing is if the person is homeless or has a medical impairment that will likely end in death soon.
